Oooh - I hurt all over.
The flu has taken hold. My head is fuzzy and my joints are aching. I feel groggy without the joy of a drink!
We had planned to go to Shannon today to catch up with Bill and Greta Clohessy (I worked with Bill in Bundaberg over a couple of years on the development of the Riverside Enterprise Centre) before they headed to France for a week - but there is no way I want to expose them to this before they leave, so we'll try to get back over here just before we go back to the UK to see them.
Michael has taken a few walks in the local area to get a tourist map and supplies from the local supermarket. Today is not raining as much as it has been although there is still quite a cloud cover and the odd shower. The temperature is not bad - at the moment it is 11°C. The forecast for the next few days is for improving weather (although still some light rain), so we should be able to get and have a look around Galway and out into County Clare and County Mayo quite easily in the coming days.
We are staying in a unit in Galway overlooking the beach at Salthill - once a seaside holiday village it is fast becoming one of Ireland's main resort areas - although it does not have the same feel of the Gold/Sunshine Coast resort areas of Queensland - more like Bargara - limited highrise, with lots of walking areas along the beachfront promenade. Quite nice to spend a few days! It is also the site of one of Europe's last free airshows each summer - too bad we won't be here in June!
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all my friends, and hope that everyone in Maryborough is doing well at the Cancer Council Relay for Life - you might see that we have sponsored some of you. Just be careful that you don't over-indulge in Perry's pancakes!
